Top 10 reasons why websites fail: reason 4

Reason 4: The Build.

Building a website is the technical part and for anything more than a very basic website, this really should be done by someone who specialises in this area. Self-build websites are answWeb buildingerable for some of the biggest complaints from visitors, and some of the biggest laughs! I could give you lots of examples here of self-build websites that look truly shocking but instead, I'll post occasional links to them on Twitter (http://twitter.com/hertsmarketing).

One of the major frustrations, and the one that is responsible for creating extraordinarily high bounce rates, is that the site takes too long to load. Most people don’t like to wait, so it’s a way of guaranteeing visitors leave to go to another site, and probably to a competitor. Having pages, buttons and links that either don’t work at all or send them to the wrong places, will also send visitors packing.

Fixing a site build that’s not delivering for a business or its visitors may just mean making some minor changes to how content has been ‘assembled’ and loaded, and fixing all the broken links, or it may require starting the build again.

If you'd like us to take a look at your site and tell you if it's a build problem and how we'd fix it, just drop us a line!
